Perhaps you pursue a career in medicine; yet you’ve accomplished significant scholarly milestones on the way. As a consequence, you feel strongly that a career as a physician-scientist is in your future. You developed specific research interests that are worthy of pursuing, in both their depth and breadth as you pursue solving one of life’s perplexing medical problems like cancer or diabetes. MD-PhD programs are sponsored primarily by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) through the Medical Science Training Program (MSTP). For extremely qualified applicants, this program provides fellowship support for those that envision their future earning both the M.D and Ph.D degrees.
